Bosna i Hercegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina has proclaimed itself the heart-shaped land that lies at the heart of southeast Europe. This small country is an intense mixture of cultures from the ancient monasteries of the Franciscan and Orthodox monks to the heralded bridges and mosques of the Ottoman Empire creating what can only be described as a ‘living museum’.
Discover Croatia Holidays offers a number of coach tours of Croatia that incorporate either Sarajevo or both Sarajevo and Mostar. Sarajevo is positioned against a backdrop of seemingly endless hills and towering mountains which have in a sense isolated the city creating a timeless world. Sarajevo is one of only a few places in the world that features an orthodox and a catholic church, a mosque and a synagogue within easy walking distance of each other. This alone is representative of the intense diversity found in this city that is also carried through to the architecture, culture and traditions of the place. Mostar is home to the “Old Bridge” which until its collapse in 1993 was a beautiful stone structure that spanned the Neretva River for over four centuries. The recent reconstruction of the bridge has signaled a return to normality and mended the broken hearts of local residence that had and continue to have a strong bond with this symbol of their city.
Apart from our coach tours Discover Croatia Holidays has a number of day tours in Bosnia and Herzegovina to supplement your holiday in Croatia including day tours of Mostar and Medugorije a mountain village where in 1981 the Virgin Mary appeared to six children. If you would like to see more of Bosnia and Herzegovina Discover Croatia Holidays can organise a personalized itinerary that meets all you requirements.
Italy is home to some of the worlds most precious treasures of art and history. Whether you are in Venice or Naples your senses will be stimulated by the mesmerizing sights, sounds, tastes and smells of this historic land.
The only thing that separates Italy from Croatia is the Adriatic Sea as such a great way to travel between the two countries is by sea. Jadrolinija and SNAV ferries will transfer you between the main central/ southern Italian ports and Croatia while Venezia Line will transport you between Venice and northern Croatian ports. Flights between Venice and Split and Dubrovnik are also plentiful and often quite cheap, making Italy a great add-on destination when you’re visiting the Balkans.
Alternatively you might consider undertaking a luxury cruise that encompasses Venice along with various ports on the Croatian coastline. If you prefer to keep your feet dry we also offer a coach tour that commences in Zagreb includes the main sites of Croatia and finishes up in romantic Venice.
Is it the history that draws us to Greece? The land that has given us the Acropolis and Delphi and Olympia has been attracting tourists for 200 years since the days of Lord Elgin. Could it be the Greek Islands? Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Paros, Naxos and Rhodes with their beautiful beaches, restaurants, nightlife and archaeological sites have been popular for decades. Or lesser known islands like Sifnos, Lesvos, Kea that have always been attractive to those looking for a more quiet escape.
Maybe it is the allure of the Peloponessos with its high mountains and beautiful coast, its rich history and the seaports of Gythion and Napflion which have sent sailors all over the world for centuries.
Could it be the Greek food? Maybe it’s the weather in Greece where they say there are 300 days of sunshine, most of it between May and November. Maybe it is the spiritual quality of places like Meteora where centuries old monasteries crown giant rocks.
Whatever the reason, we know you’ll have a fabulous time in this beautiful country. Book your Greek adventure today!
“I feel sLOVEnia”
Slovenia’s positioning near both Austria and Italy means that many of its cities and towns bear the imprint of the Hapsburg and Venetian empires. However, heading toward the Julian Alps you will find that the scenery changes to be more distinctly Bavarian.
There are two main ways to see the best of both Croatia and Slovenia.
If you prefer independent travel, request an individual itinerary that accommodates your interests and the sights you wish to see, such as a self-drive or chauffeured tour.
If you prefer the company of a group why not try a Slovenian and Croatia coach tour and/or a luxury cruise. The coach tours encompass Bled, with its mountain ringed lake and fairytale castle perched on top of a 100m cliff, Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia a city of culture and rich historical legacy as well as Postojna Caves, where you will be in awe of the varied and stunning geological formations and inhabitants of the caves.
A combination of a land tour and a Croatian cruise gives you the best of all worlds. Contact us today for individualised holidays that we can create just for you!

One of the last ‘not so touristy’ Mediterranean destinations
Sure, visiting the famous landmarks around the world like Eiffel tower or Vatican can be fun, but why not go somewhere completely different and be the first one to discover the most amazing gems before thousands of tourist descend. Following years of communist regime and its ultimate collapse in the early 1990’s, Albania is in the midst of a major facelift offering thousands of years of history and natural beauty. Thus, while others navigate the overcrowded streets in neighboring Greece or Italy, Albania offers plenty of peace and quiet enjoyment, local lifestyle, untouched nature and pure pleasure of having all the amazing treasures pretty much to yourself.
Archaeological and UNESCO wonders
As if the beautiful weather and phenomenal geographic scenery were not enough, there is also something for the history buff and archaeological explorer in you. Considering Albania’s close proximity to Greece, it is not surprising to find abundantly rich and captivating archaeological sites, castles, UNESCO heritage sites and ancient history throughout Albania. The current archaeological discoveries point to the early Iron Age B.C. displaying intriguing remains of Byzantine and Ottoman Empire.
